Augie March – There Is No Such Place (36)

December 23, 2009

My radio program used to follow an Australian music one. I used to laze around the studio, eating a burger for dinner, watching the presenter do his thing. I remember the night he announced the death of Augie March’s Rob Dawson, and in tribute played “There Is No Such Place”, which strongly feature’s Dawson’s keyboard. It was a touching moment.

Coincidentally, and to the presenter’s delight, the band had similar thoughts and started dedicating the song to Dawson during their live sets.

Sadly, I can’t vouch for their live sound, despite seeing the band at festivals several times over the decade, as there has always been problems with the live sound mix. I suppose this is no surprise considering such delicacy is easy to lose in the wind.
