Dresden Dolls – Girl Anachronisism (55)

December 21, 2009

Me in 2004: “Amanda Palmer is definitely a strange one, while her character in “Girl Anachronism” is completely out of control. With piano crashing away in punk-wise tones she screams about glasses she’s broken, the car she’s dented, the issues she’s got in make-believe, all ‘accidentally on purpose.’ All in all she comes across as a manic mix of Tori Amos and Cathy Bradford: “You can tell from the full body cast that you’re sorry that you asked/that you did everything that you could like any decent person would.” Watch out if you see her coming.”

Me in 2009: I’d forgotten who Cathy Bradford was. Plus, on reflection, Amanda Palmer isn’t strange when compared to, say, the Fiery Furnaces. Still, I wouldn’t like to meet her in a dark alley.
